n. [L. sub, under; Gr. chele, claw]
(ARTHROPODA: Crustacea)
The distal end of a limb developed as a prehensile structure by the folding back of a dactyl against the propodus or widest part of it; may arise from propodus folded back against the carpus; gnathopod.
